For Research Use Only
GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6) is a synthetic hexapeptide and one of the first growth hormone secretagogues developed for research purposes. It acts as a selective agonist at the ghrelin receptor (GHSR-1a), stimulating growth hormone release from pituitary somatotroph cells through a mechanism distinct from and complementary to that of growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH). Research has extensively investigated GHRP-6 for its potent growth hormone secretagogue activity, with studies demonstrating its ability to produce significant, dose-dependent increases in growth hormone secretion both independently and synergistically when combined with GHRH analogs. Beyond its somatotropic effects, GHRP-6 has been studied for its influence on ghrelin receptor-mediated pathways, including appetite stimulation, gastric motility, and energy homeostasis regulation. Additional research has explored its potential cytoprotective properties, with studies indicating possible cardioprotective and hepatoprotective effects in preclinical injury models, as well as its role in modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and cortisol secretion at varying research doses.
